Found this really cute idea to decorate pencils online:

I haven't used Washi tape before, but I may have to get some and try this out!

Telling Time

I found a great website to help students learn time:
http://timemonsters.com/

Children love technology and computer time, so enabling students to use the computer to learn about time is fun and engaging.  This could be a station in a "centers" activity.

Here are some more fun online activities to reinforce time:
http://www.teachingtime.co.uk/draggames/sthec1.html :  At this website, students drag the digital time to the correct analog time and then hit the "stop the clock" button at the bottom of the page.  Students can pair up and take turns playing this game to see who can finish the fastest.

To create some worksheets for the classroom go to this website:

Reinforcing time throughout the year is imperative.  As part of a daily routine, ask students to tell the time.  This could be done in Kindergarten during calendar time or a part of a regular routine in first grade.
